Featured Singers in Joseph

All roles will be filled using Gender-Blind casting. The role of the Narrator will be played by multiple actors.

It is the director's goal to engage a large and diverse cast in this family friendly classic. All races, creeds, gender identities, sexual orientations, ages, and body types are encouraged to audition and will be considered for all roles when casting.

There are no AEA Contracts available for this production. 

The Narrators - The charismatic leaders of the chorus. Although every character occasionally breaks the “4th wall”, the narrator is very presentational, and occasionally interacts with the both the audience and the characters on stage

Joseph -  Believes in himself, and is unaware of his brothers’ feelings toward him. Although he is sold into slavery and suffers a string of bad luck, he remains positive. His ability to interpret dreams enables him to rise out of prison, and ultimately ensure the future of Jacob’s family.

Jacob - The patriarch of Israel, he is the father of twelve sons; his favorite being Joseph, as he reminds him of his favorite wife.  He places his dreams, love and care in raising Joseph and gives him a beautiful coat of many colors that angers his other sons.

Pharaoh - The ruling Pharaoh and most powerful person in Egypt -- Ramases. This person is considered a god. When they have dreams they don’t understand they releases Joseph from jail to interpret them. They are so impressed by Joseph’s abilities that they promote him to a high position within the government. The Pharaoh is traditionally portrayed in the style of Elvis Presley.

Simeon - Second son of Jacob and Joseph’s half-brother. Sings ‘Those Canaan Days’, and therefore must be able to do a French accent, a la Maurice Chevalier.

Judah - Sings ‘Benjamin’s Calypso’ and must have the charisma to “sell” a Caribbean style.

Reuben - Sings ‘One More Angel in Heaven’. He should have the ability to sing country/blues and show that he can spin a tale, similar to how a cowboy might tell a story at the campfire during dinner.

Potiphar - A wealthy captain who buys Joseph from the Ishmaelites. He made his fortune buying shares in pyramids and owned a large percentage of the Nile. It is his jealous rage that lands Joseph into jail.
